課程概述

This course is designed and targeted to familiarize yourselves with current journalistic writing styles and debatable issues. You should be prepared to expose yourselves to real-life writing in which English usages are conducted in a way less familiarly drilled in conventional, especially high school, grammar textbooks. You will be expected to practice oral and written English skills through a series of in-class projects, e.g., oral presentation, discussion in groups, and writing tasks in the mid-term and final examinations. As the instruction is done in English in principle, you should also be prepared to practice and improve your listening skills.

課程要求
Due to considerable emphasis on performance in the nature of the course, it is imperative that you be an active member of the class—this is possible only if you are present. (People unwilling to accept a fair share of the responsibility for the course requirements are advised to select other sessions more consistent with their expectations.) Only with your performance will you contribute to your participation grade in a variety of our in-class activities. It goes without saying that you are positively rewarded for your regular attendance. Vice versa, your less than enthusiastic participation will also be noted and discredited.
